Kiwi goes to taping of Daily Show: we’re all very proud
WARNING - CULTURAL CRINGE
Quake bill $6 billion, “Monday’s quakes may have added as much as $6 billion in new damage.” You would think stuff.co.nz would make the impact of this week’s earthquakes their lead story/image - but oh no.
Jon Stewart mentioned NZ in his opening for the Daily Show. That’s right, NZ politics was mentioned on American TV - OH MY GOD….
Interestingly, the Herald doesn’t mention it. Maybe we’re seeing the difference between a ‘news’ website vs a website for an actual hard copy newspaper.. The rubbish stuff has on their homepage almost undermines them as a news source (everyone remembers the barking missionary). They obviously believe they have to focus on the trivial for page hits. I wonder why they bother doing straight news at all?
The actual article just goes over the few seconds that Stewart recounts his conversation with a Kiwi audience member. It links to her blog, Brooks probably counts now as World Famous in New Zealand, where a radio station has already posted a ‘please call in and talk to us about your experience’ message.

I admit, when I saw the attention this was getting I watched the clip expecting a little…more.

Hi I'm Andre! I'm a cat-obssessed philosophy grad living in Devonport, in Auckland, New Zealand. This blog is not much more than a collection of my interests: bad humour, comics, fantasy, sci fi, gaming, cats, feminism and philosophy.

In particular, I post a lot of screenshots from the games I'm currently playing. If you're interested, here are some of the games I've played (feel free to ask for screenshots of particular games if you can't find them here, I have plenty more saved that I haven't uploaded):

  • The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
  • The Secret World
  • Mass Effect 1, 2 & 3
  • Dragon Age: Origins & Dragon Age II
  • Star Wars: The Old Republic
  • Guild Wars 2
  • Planetside 2
  • EVE Online
  • Star Trek Online
  • The Witcher & The Witcher 2
  • Rift
  • Dark Souls

One time I went hiking in the Coromandel and took lots of pictures.

Anyway, I'm always up for a chat. Feel free to drop me a line any time.
